I think by now we all know that cell phones work by involving radio waves “made up of electromagnetic radiation propagated by the antenna.” Logically, this has raised many questions regarding potential health risks to cell phone users.
While no one has a concrete answer on how to Green our much needed cell phones, there is now an earth friendly answer to recharging them which goes by the name of the Solio Solar Charger. These green chargers give you unlimited power because it uses the always available renewable resource of the sun to power your electronic devices from cell phones to GPS systems. The Solio is also considered a hybrid, accepting power from either the wall socket or the sun, storing this energy within Solio’s internal rechargeable battery. Solio then uses this energy to power your gadgets at the same rate as if they were plugged into the wall. Last, but not least, the Solio is designed to hold it’s power up ton one full year. Talk about fun in the sun!
This eco-friendly charger will run you about $119.99, plus tax and shipping. If your interested in picking up one of these Green Gadgets, you can check them out here.

Buddha’s says: “Who loves oneself will never harm another.” I don’t know if this is true or not, but in Buddhism, the challenge is to find out for yourself. What exactly does it mean to love ourselves. I decided that it was finally time for me to find out what that really means.
Easier said than done, especially in today’s economy while we are still in the throws of a war… and don’t even get started on the high gas prices and unemployment. All of that can make even the sanest person go a little crazy. This is why we need Zen Practices.

I think it’s safe to say everyone is not a morning person. I would almost bet that more than half of society dreads that morning wakeup call or alarm. Studies have shown that many people are more creative in the nocturnal hours, like bats. Bats sleep all day and fly around all night looking for food. Some of us, especially musicians, are like bats. We start to perk up around 5:00pm and can work all night until the break of dawn.
Recently, Best Buy did a study with their employees to see what could make them more productive. The company gave their employees laptops and allowed them to work half of their work week at home. Guess what. Productivity increased up to 40%! Some of their workers stated they preferred to work during the evening hours, and working at home allowed them to indulge this, ergo inreasing their work productivity.

Let’s face it, the bathroom isn’t the most glamorous room in your household. Ranging from staid and boring to downright dangerous, many modern bathrooms are not designed as thoughtfully the rest of our homes. The irony in that fact is that bathrooms are one of the most expensive rooms in the house to build, averaging about $10,000 a pop. Still, for all their expense, the design hasn’t evolved too far beyond shiny fixtures and his ‘n her sinks: many of us are still using the five-by-eight bathroom with the three fixtures — toilet, sink, and tub — all lined up in a row. And while it might help maximize space, having a dirty fixture where you deposit your waste (the toilet) next to two where you clean yourself (the sink and the tub) doesn’t make for the healthiest environment.
Here are some great Green Bathroom renovation tips that will make your home healthier for your and your family as well as Greener:

Zen Yoga is completely different from traditional Indian yoga. Zen yoga poses are part of an Oriental system that combines the practice of asanas with Traditional Chinese and Japanese Medicine. Postures are categorized according to the primary meridian they affect. Meridians are similar to a blood vessel, in that it has an energetic structure that corresponds with the human body, but which is instead a channel for energy to circulate.
The alignment of these exercises with specific meridians is what makes zen yoga such a powerful healing exercise. Teachers of this Oriental system emphasize its’ capacity to help treat the basic causes of illness. This article will explore what is meant by that, and provide some illustration on how zen yoga poses can be adapted to an individual’s problems.

Taking a green vacation is an essential way to protect your favorite vacation destinations for yourself, and other travelers who will come after you and continue to live there longer after you’ve gone home. With nearly 1 billion tourists crisscrossing the globe every year, it’s more important than ever for us to start taking responsibility to minimize their individual impact on the earth’s natural and cultural treasures. The potential negative effects of tourism are both local and global; oceanfront hotels contribute to beach erosion in Hawaii, rising numbers of visitors threaten the fragile ecosystems of the Galapagos Islands, and carbon dioxide emissions from planes are a growing contributor to global warming.
You don’t need to sacrifice your own comfort level to be a green traveler. The following are some Green Vacation Tips:

Financial health is just as important as physical and mental stability. One of the top reason for divorce usually has to do with money – or should I say the lack of financial stability. “Making both ends meet” seems easier to talk about than to do. To actually achieve it, it’s helpful to know that if we cannot make more money on one end, we should certainly spend less money on the other end. Spending less money is not easy to practice either, but it is a habit that can easily be learned with some practice and will power. Here are your 5 zen steps that can aid you in your quest for financial wealth, especially, through practicing Zen meditation and living a Zen lifestyle.

The phrase “green air conditioning” is one of the most ironic statements I have ever made. However, one cannot expect to live comfortably during the summer months without it. Now that we are in August, one of the hottest summer months, I though I would post some tips on how to save the planet while still cranking up the AC. Try a setting 10 degrees cooler than the day’s high temperature. You’ll save 3 percent on energy costs for every degree raised over 72 degrees. Or raise the temperature setting even more and turn on a fan. And be sure to draw the blinds and curtains during the sunniest and warmest times of day.

START GREEN BAGGING IT TODAY
Organic grocey stores like Whole Food vowed to get rid of all plastic grovery bags by Earth Day in 2008. Now everyone else is joining in for the cause. Most major drug and grocery stores, in Southern California, now sell their own fiber woven bags. The retailers are encouraging the shoppers to bring their shopping bags with them every time they do their shopping. Last month, the governor of California announced that shoppers will not have to pay for plastic and paper shopping bags, but should purchase the eco-friendly bags instead to save the environment, while saving their money. Eco-friendly shopping bags range anywhere from .99 to $1.99 per bag. Grovery stores will start to charge up to .25 per plastic or paper shopping bag. I purchased my eco-friendly bags from my friendly neighborhood, Gelson’s about 3 months ago. We keep them in the trunk of the car and always use them while grocery shopping.
WHY WE SHOULD NOT USE PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS ANYMORE
Join in and save our planet today. Plastic bags are petroleum based and they fill landfills, harm nature and litter our communities. Since it can take more than 1,000 years for a plastic bag to break down in a landfill, polymers of every single plastic bag ever produced still exist on our planet. As they break down, plastic bags go through photodegradation—breaking down into small toxic particles that contaminate both soil and water, and end up entering the food chain when animals accidentally ingest them. It takes roughly 430,000 gallons of crude oil to produce 100 million plastic bags, and in the U.S. alone, about 100 billion plastic bags are thrown away each year (and only 0.6 % of them are recycled).
