Sep 23rd, 2008

Many of us are so busy renovating our homes to conserve energy, driving a new Smart Car, and even composting, but we fall short when it comes to skincare. Most drugstore brands comtain chemicals that may contribute to breast cancer and many other ailments. Your best all natural, green skincare secrets may be hiding in your kitchen cupboard.

  1. Avocados – Avocados are not only delicious, but they are considered a good fat to eat. Consider a moisturizing avocado facial mask. Smash up a ripe avocado with some honey and royal jelly. Leave on your face for 20 minutes, then rinse off. Your face will be baby smooth with a natural glow.
  2. Olive Oil – Olive oil has countless beauty uses. Consider it for removing makeup, shaving your legs and moisturizing legs, cuticles and rough heels and feet.
  3. Sugar/Salt- Plain sugar and salt are excellent natural exfoliates for your next pedicure or in the shower. Rub some together with a little baby oil and scrub all that dad skin away. For an aromatherapy treatment, use your favorite essential oil, instead of baby oil.
  4. Coconut Oil- Did you know coconut oil was a natural sunscreen? Although many of the islanders in the Phillipines work outside year round, there are very few cases of skin cancer in that country. Many people believe this is because coconut oil is a major part of the islanders diet and skin uses and coconut oil has been found to have sunscreen qualities as well.
  5. Egg Whites – An egg white facial is a great way to tighten pores and tone skin.
