Green Living Web Highlights: Green DVD Club, Green Chefs and Raw Foods, Green Living Startup Kits
Indie Films for the Earth
I’m a huge fan of borrowing DVDs from the library. I’ve found so many films that never made it to the Big Screen. The Earth Cinema Circle is a Green Living DVD club. They deliver 4-5 films to members bimonthly. The selections include animated shorts and documentaries created by Independent Filmmakers. They have trailers on their site of the current DVDs being shipped, to make to make your decision easy. Topics include wildlife, sustainable architecture, solar power and more Earth Cinema Circle also supports their carbon neutrality through donations to the Go Zero Program. And hey all of their packaging is 100% recycled. Learn more at www.earthcinemacircle.com.
Green Chefs on Green TV
G Living calls itself the Modern Green Lifestyle Human Network. This web channel is packed with articles and videos about green living. I discovered the Green Chefs section with varied episodes on fun raw food. Yes, they are mostly deserts and beverages, but hey, I prefer to cook raw when the heat is on outdoors. The recipes are organic and/or vegan where noted. Those who are flexible will find that ingredients can be easily substituted to create what your personal palate desires. I must also note the article on Credo Mobile. Credo is a mobile phone company formerly known as Working Assets that donates 1% of your bill to causes ranging from the ACLU to The Global Fund For Women. The site is gliving.tv and the Green Chefs pages are at gliving.tv/greenchefs.
Shopping Totes, Fluorescent Lightbulbs, Smart Power Strips, Oh My!
Green Lemonaide’s Green Toolkit is for the crunchy granola bar in all of us. Green Lemonaide touts it as a great gift. I think it’s an easy and simple start to a greener life. Included in the kit are a compact fluorescent bulb, a reusable tote bag, and a smart power strip that powers down when you power off. The kit’s come in two sizes so that you can go big or just take the first small step to a greener lifestyle. Reusable totes are continual money savers and some grocers offer you as much as 10 cents each time you shop with your own tote. Most totes are machine washable which a big plus. When I first started toting I thought I’d be buying new ones constantly, but being able to put it in the wash keeps that from happening. Learn more at www.greenlemonaide.com.
